Heneberry Named An Inaugural Preseason All-American

BALTIMORE - Senior Ana Heneberry has been named a preseason second-team All-American in the inaugural Face-Off Yearbook Division I women’s lacrosse preview, as announced Wednesday by Inside Lacrosse.
Heneberry, a defender from Timonium, Md., is the only BIG EAST player to be honored on the first or second team, while Notre Dame’s Maggie Tamasitis, Georgetown’s Sophia Thomas and Syracuse’s Michelle Tumolo were named to the third team.
A third-team All-American in 2011, Heneberry anchored a Loyola defense that finished the year ranked 12th in the NCAA by allowing just 8.85 goals per game. She also helped Loyola lead the nation in caused turnovers per game (11.75) by finishing second on the team with 28.
Heneberry is a two-time All-BIG EAST Second Team selection and has earned dual all-region honors by the IWLCA. She was also named to the 2011 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after helping the program claim its first conference title since joining the league in 2005.
Playing in all 20 games for the Greyhounds last season, she finished the year with 25 ground balls, five draw controls and 28 caused turnovers.
Throughout her career, Heneberry has played in 55 games, starting 51. She has accumulated 86 ground balls, 17 draw controls and 84 caused turnovers. Her 84 caused turnovers ranks fourth all-time in program history.
